Hiking and mountain climbing
St. Michael is a well suited starting point for many hikes and mountain tours. Due to the central location you can reach all the valleys without long travel times.
With its varied landscapes, the Lungau captivates nearly everyone - beautiful hills, majestic mountain peaks and crystal clear- refreshing mountain lakes, seemingly endless pastures, meadows and valley floors are a feature of our region!

Due to the diversity of the mountains and valleys there is an equally wide range of activities. This includes hiking on experience trails, for children appropriate family tours, cultural walks to challenging, even mountain tours over several days into the high mountains up to 3000 altitude.
Explore the Lungau on two wheels
A very well developed and signposted cycle network in the valley and simple to demanding mountain bike tours on the mountain slopes provides pleasure to cyclists and ambitious mountain bikers, relaxation and adventure at the same time.
The cycle network in Lungau climbs gently along idyllic streams and natural woods through the mountain landscape. The cycle trail along the river " Mur " is to suitable for young and old and takes you to the picturesque villages of the Lungau.
If you want to go somewhere higher with your mountain bike, the paths and trails with a variety of attractive tours and over 600 kilometers of track length is just right.
Nordic Walking & Running
For "Nordic Walker" and "Runners" there are nine different marked trails in the length of 2 to 28 kilometers. However, the endless appearing paths and trail network allover the Lungau can be used as well for this purpose. A route map you can get without charge in the tourist office.
If you want to try out nordic walking once, you can get Nordic walking sticks (with deposit) at the Tourist Office St. Michael.
Public Swimming in St. Michael
The outdoor public swimming pool in St. Michael is very popular with families. Extensive lawns provide plenty of space for games, sunbathing and relaxation.
The 18 -lane mini-golf course in a sunny, south-facing location in the immediate vicinity of the swimming pool is ideal for families and young people to relax and for exciting tournaments and social events.
The swimming pool and mini golf course are open depending on the weather from late May to late August.
Golf Club St. Michael
Play golf in one of the sunniest regions in the heart of Austria.
On the sunny valley floor, between St. Margarethen and St. Michael is a
sprawling golf course, the 18-hole tournament course and the 9-hole par 3 course
was integrated in the middle of impressive wetlands and provides space for beginners and advanced golf players.
Adventurepark Katschberg
For adrenaline payout in any case is guaranteed in the adventure park Katschberg. There are different courses, which
have different levels of difficulty. The facility is opened in good weather conditions.
